Lynwood, IL Hosts American Cornhole Organization Midwest Major

Lansing, Ill. – Southland Center Ho-Chunk Nation Enterprise located in Lynwood is host to American Cornhole Organization (ACO)  Midwest Major. This event takes place Friday, May 25–26, 2018. American Cornhole Organization, is the governing body for the sport of cornhole. The game known by the alternative name of bags is rising in popularity and some are in a league of semi-professionals that now tour the nation to play every weekend. Established in 2005 and headquartered in Milford, Ohio, the ACO offers official cornhole rules, sanctioned products, tournament listings, and comprehensive information about cornhole events. Cornhole’s got a competition component, with $68k on the line at the American Cornhole Organization’s World Championship in Montgomery AL inJuly of 2018.

So how do you play? All you need is to find a nice flat surface on your lawn, in a parking lot, the beach, etc. Set up your boards directly facing each other with 27 feet between the front edge of each board. Cornhole is played with 2 or 4 players. Pick from which side of the board you’ll throw. In a 4-player game, your partner’s pitching box will be across from you. In a 2-player game, if you start throwing from the left side of the board, you’ll walk directly across to the other board, and throwback from the right side. Lastly, pick your bags (4 for each team) and get ready to play!

“The popularity of cornhole is credited to the fact that anyone can participate in this sport. We have highly competitive players as young as 13 to as old as 75, male and female playing our sport. The sport is portable and easy to play making it great for everyone,” stated Frank Geers of the American Cornhole Organization.

“We welcome the 300+ players that will be converging on the Chicago Southland,” said Jim Garrett, President / CEO for the Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Everyone should get out and visit this event at the Southland Center in Lynwood as this is an excellent establishment to feature any sport or just to come play.”
